The distribution of a species along a thermal gradient is commonly approximated by a unimodal response curve, with a characteristic single optimum near the tempera‐ture where a species is most likely to be found, and a decreasing probability of occur‐rence away from the optimum. We aimed at identifying thermal response curves (TRCs) of European freshwater species and evaluating the potential impact of climate warming across species, taxonomic groups, and latitude. We first applied generalized additive models using catchment‐scale global data on distribution ranges of 577 freshwater species native to Europe and four different temperature variables (the current annual mean air/water temperature and the maximum air/water temperature of the warmest month) to describe species TRCs. We then classified TRCs into one of eight curve types and identified spatial patterns in thermal responses. Finally, we in‐tegrated empirical TRCs and the projected geographic distribution of climate warm‐ing to evaluate the effect of rising temperatures on species’ distributions. For the different temperature variables, 390–463 of 577 species (67.6%–80.2%) were char‐acterized by a unimodal TRC. The number of species with a unimodal TRC decreased from central toward northern and southern Europe. Warming tolerance (WT = maxi‐mum temperature of occurrence—preferred temperature) was higher at higher lati‐tudes. Preferred temperature of many species is already exceeded. Rising temperatures will affect most Mediterranean species. We demonstrated that fresh‐water species’ occurrence probabilities are most frequently unimodal. The impact of the global climate warming on species distributions is species and latitude depend‐ent. Among the studied taxonomic groups, rising temperatures will be most detri‐mental to fish. Our findings support the efforts of catchment‐based freshwater management and conservation in the face of global warming.
Unter Enclothed Cognition versteht die Wissenschaft den Einfluss der Kleidung einer Person auf ihre eigenen kognitiven Prozesse. In vergangenen Studien erzielten etwa Pro-band:innen in Arztkitteln höhere Werte bei Konzentrationstests und formell gekleidete Personen beschrieben ihren Charakter mit anderen Adjektiven als Menschen in neutraler Kleidung. Sofern solche intrapersonellen Effekte der eigenen Kleidung auf die mensch-liche Kognition konstant und in verschiedenen Kontexten auftreten sollten, sind sie von Interesse, wann immer Fähigkeiten und Persönlichkeit eines Menschen valide einge-schätzt werden sollen. Dies ist etwa in Personalauswahlverfahren der Fall, weil dort von den Ergebnissen der verwendeten Tests und Fragebögen oft wichtige Personalentschei-dungen abhängen. Um zu untersuchen, inwiefern die Kleidung eines Bewerbers oder ei-ner Bewerberin durch intrapersonelle Effekte die Ergebnisse von Auswahlverfahren be-einflusst, wurde von Mai bis November 2021 ein Laborexperiment mit studentischen 100 Proband:innen im nordwestdeutschen Osnabrück durchgeführt. Dabei wurden die Ver-suchspersonen unter Verhüllung des eigentlichen Studienzwecks entweder einer formel-len (Sakko/Blazer und Hemd/Bluse) oder einer zwanglosen Kleidungskondition (Kapu-zenpullover und Jeans) zugewiesen, in der sie zum Experiment erscheinen sollten. Dort wurden sie verschiedenen Fragebögen und Tests unterzogen. Es zeigte sich weder in der allgemeinen und situationsspezifischen Selbstwirksamkeit noch in Leistungsmotivation, Konzentration und kognitiver Leistung ein Unterschied zwischen formeller und zwang-loser Kleidung. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschreibt den theoretischen Hintergrund und die Methoden der Studie und diskutiert ihre Ergebnisse.
Niche-based species distribution models (SDMs) have become an essential tool in conservation and restoration planning. Given the current threats to freshwater biodiversity, it is of fundamental importance to address scale effects on the performance of niche-based SDMs of freshwater species’ distributions. The scale effects are addressed here in the context of hierarchical catchment ordering, considered as counterpart to coarsening grain-size by increasing grid-cell size. We combine fish occurrence data from the Danube River Basin, the hierarchical catchment ordering and multiple environmental factors representing topographic, climatic and anthropogenic effects to model fish occurrence probability across multiple scales. We focus on 1st to 5th order catchments. The spatial scale (hierarchical catchment order) only marginally influences the mean performance of SDMs, however the uncertainty of the estimates increases with scale. Key predictors and their relative importance are scale and species dependent. Our findings have useful implications for choosing proper species dependent spatial scales for river rehabilitation measures, and for conservation planning in areas where fine grain species data are unavailable.
Land cover change is a dynamic phenomenon driven by synergetic biophysical and socioeconomic effects. It involves massive transitions from natural to less natural habitats and
thereby threatens ecosystems and the services they provide. To retain intact ecosystems
and reduce land cover change to a minimum of natural transition processes, a dense network of protected areas has been established across Europe. However, even protected
areas and in particular the zones around protected areas have been shown to undergo land
cover changes. The aim of our study was to compare land cover changes in protected
areas, non-protected areas, and 1 km buffer zones around protected areas and analyse
their relationship to climatic and socioeconomic factors across Europe between 2000 and
2012 based on earth observation data. We investigated land cover flows describing major
change processes: urbanisation, afforestation, deforestation, intensification of agriculture,
extensification of agriculture, and formation of water bodies. Based on boosted regression
trees, we modelled correlations between land cover flows and climatic and socioeconomic
factors. The results show that land cover changes were most frequent in 1 km buffer zones
around protected areas (3.0% of all buffer areas affected). Overall, land cover changes
within protected areas were less frequent than outside, although they still amounted to
18,800 km2 (1.5% of all protected areas) from 2000 to 2012. In some parts of Europe, urbanisation and intensification of agriculture still accounted for up to 25% of land cover changes
within protected areas. Modelling revealed meaningful relationships between land cover
changes and a combination of influencing factors. Demographic factors (accessibility to cities and population density) were most important for coarse-scale patterns of land cover
changes, whereas fine-scale patterns were most related to longitude (representing the general east/west economic gradient) and latitude (representing the north/south climatic
gradient).
Thermal response curves that depict the probability of occurrence along a thermal gradient
are used to derive various species’ thermal properties and abilities to cope with warming. However,
different thermal responses can be expected for different portions of a species range. We focus on
differences in thermal response curves (TRCs) and thermal niche requirements for four freshwater
fishes (Coregonus sardinella, Pungitius pungitius, Rutilus rutilus, Salvelinus alpinus) native to Europe at
(1) the global and (2) European continental scale. European ranges captured only a portion of the
global thermal range with major differences in the minimum (Tmin), maximum (Tmax) and average
temperature (Tav) of the respective distributions. Further investigations of the model-derived preferred temperature (Tpref), warming tolerance (WT = Tmax − Tpref), safety margin (SM = Tpref − Tav)
and the future climatic impact showed substantially differing results. All considered thermal properties either were under- or overestimated at the European level. Our results highlight that, although
continental analyses have an impressive spatial extent, they might deliver misleading estimates of
species thermal niches and future climate change impacts, if they do not cover the full species ranges.
Studies and management actions should therefore favor whole global range distribution data for
analyzing species responses to environmental gradients.
Freshwater ecosystems host disproportionately high numbers of species relative to their surface area yet are poorly protected globally. We used data on the distribution of 1631 species
of aquatic plant, mollusc, odonate and fish in 18,816 river and lake catchments in Europe to
establish spatial conservation priorities based on the occurrence of threatened, rangerestricted and endemic species using the Marxan systematic conservation planning tool. We
found that priorities were highest for rivers and ancient lakes in S Europe, large rivers and
lakes in E and N Europe, smaller lakes in NW Europe and karst/limestone areas in the Balkans, S France and central Europe. The a priori inclusion of well-protected catchments
resulted in geographically more balanced priorities and better coverage of threatened (critically endangered, endangered and vulnerable) species. The a priori exclusion of well-protected catchments showed that priority areas that need further conservation interventions are
in S and E Europe. We developed three ways to evaluate the correspondence between conservation priority and current protection by assessing whether a cathment has more (or less)
priority given its protection level relative to all other catchments. Each method found that priority relative to protection was high in S and E Europe and generally low in NW Europe. The
inclusion of hydrological connectivity had little influence on these patterns but decreased the
coverage of threatened species, indicating a trade-off between connectivity and conservation
of threatened species. Our results suggest that catchments in S and E Europe need urgent
conservation attention (protected areas, restoration, management, species protection) in the
face of imminent threats such as river regulation, dam construction, hydropower development and climate change. Our study presents continental-scale conservation priorities for
freshwater ecosystems in ecologically meaningful planning units and will thus be important in
freshwater biodiversity conservation policy and practice, and water management in Europe.
Mit der Akademisierung von praktischen Gesundheitsberufen stehen die Hochschulen und Universitäten gleichermaßen vor der Herausforderung, Pflege- und Therapiekräfte für ein noch nicht definiertes Berufsfeld zu qualifizieren. Die Wissenschaft hat die Fragen nach den genauen Inhalten und der Abgrenzung akademisierter Gesundheitsberufe zu anderen, seit langem etablierten Tätigkeitsbereichen in der Patientenversorgung zu beantworten und weiterführend zukünftigen Entwicklungen aufzuzeigen. Hier erwächst der Bedarf nach einer weitergehenden Arbeitsforschung in den akademisierten, praktischen Gesundheitsberufen. Der in diesem Beitrag vorgestellte Ansatz kombiniert die Weiterqualifizierung mit der Arbeitsforschung im Berufsfeld. Ziel ist es, Weiterbildungsmodule zu konzipieren, bei denen das praktische Arbeitsfeld mit den jeweiligen Inhalten der Module systematisch in Bezug gesetzt wird. Grundlage hierzu sind didaktische Ansätze der Theorie-Praxis-Relation aus dualen Studiengängen. Zentrales Instrument ist eine reflexionsorientierte Fallstudie, die von den Teilnehmern der Weiterbildung für jedes Modul erstellt wird, in der die Teilnehmer theoriebasierte Inhalte des Moduls aufgreifen und dazu nutzen, ihr jeweiliges praktisches Arbeitsfeld mit der fachlichen Perspektive des Moduls zu reflektieren. Die Teilnehmer werden so zu Praxisforschern und die Weiterbildung gleichzeitig zu einer wissenschaftlichen Berufsfeldreflexion, aus der die Praxis Impulse zur Weiterentwicklung erhält.
Das Gesundheitswesen steht vor zahlreichen Veränderungen. Dazu zählen auch sich wandelnde Kompetenzprofile. Auf Seiten der Hochschulen stellt sich neben den fachlichen Aspekten zukünftiger Kompetenzprofile verstärkt die Frage nach einer höheren systemischen Durchlässigkeit und damit auch nach einer optimalen Vernetzung hochschulischer und außerhochschulisch erworbener Kompetenzen. Insbesondere in den Gesundheitsfachberufen nehmen non-formal und informell erworbene Kompetenzen einen hohen Stellenwert ein. Somit stellt sich die Herausforderung, wie die Ausgestaltung eines hochschulischen Zertifikatsprogrammes erfolgen kann, das zum einen eine Qualifizierung auf akademischem Niveau bietet und gleichzeitig die bestehenden non-formal bzw. informell im Berufsfeld erworbenen Kompetenzen der Lernenden erfassen, bewerten und entsprechend zertifizieren kann. Zielstellung ist es letztendlich, die Gesamtkompetenz einer Person in einem klar umgrenzten thematischen Umfeld zu erfassen, wertzuschätzen“ bzw. zu bewerten und gezielt weiter zu entwickeln, wobei außerhochschulische Kompetenzen eine wichtige Rolle spielen. Die in diesem Rahmen zertifizierten Kompetenzen stehen in einem möglichen Folgeprozess für eine entsprechende Anrechnung zur Verfügung. Vorgestellt wird ein erster Prototyp, der sich insbesondere als eine Erweiterung bestehender Denkmodelle im Bereich der Anrechnung versteht.
The production of food-grade substances and complex biocatalysts used as additives or active ingredients – mainly for food applications – can be achieved in the eukaryotic expression system of Aspergillus niger. Food proteins or food enzymes e.g., casein, ovalbumin, phytase or glucoamylase are highly complex polymers. Most of them could be used as nitrogen or energy source for animals and humans, while others are industrial relevant biomass-degrading enzymes used for biological waste processing and food production.
However, the successful production of novel recombinant proteins can be challenging, resource- and time consuming. Therefore, A. niger mutant libraries are needed to understand the “adjusting screws” to produce high yields of recombinant proteins, preferably even in a kind of generic, transferable system. In order to establish a universal and multipurpose expression platform, there is the need to overcome the lack of high throughput assays first.
To tackle this problem, we designed a modular, quantitative and feasible high-throughput screening system to express and screen recombinant proteins regarding their stability and functionality in A. niger. For this purpose a dual-luciferase reporter gene system, which is applicable in small scale will be established for A. niger. After the generation of an A. niger secretion mutant library, the system will be transferred and tested to other proteins of interest. The technology can be integrated into bio-regenerative life support systems for the autonomous production of e.g., food, food additives and food enzymes on earth as well as in deep-space.
Hintergrund: In Deutschland beginnen 96,6% der Frauen nach der Geburt ihr Kind zu stillen, nach den ersten vier Lebensmonate werden jedoch nur 55,8% der Neugeborenen ausschließlich gestillt (vgl. Kersting et al. 2020). Viele Mütter überwinden trotz hoher Stillmotivation die ersten Stillschwierigkeiten bei der Etablierung des Stillens nicht (vgl. Rasenack et al. 2012; Weissenborn et al. 2016). Es besteht also Forschungsbedarf, wie Mütter Stillschwierigkeiten erleben und überwinden, um zu ergründen, wie sie beim Stillen unterstützt werden können.
Zielsetzung & Methodik: Zur Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage „Wie werden Stillschwierigkeiten aus der Perspektive von erststillenden Müttern erlebt und bewältigt?“ wurde ein qualitativer Forschungsansatz gewählt. Über das Projekt „Stillförderung im Landkreis und der Stadt Osnabrück“ konnten 11 Frauen für ein halbstrukturiertes, problemzentriertes Interview nach Witzel gewonnen werden. Die Mütter wurden einzeln und retrospektiv 4 - 11 Monate nach der Geburt befragt. Ausgewertet wurden die erhobenen Daten wurden mit der qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse nach Mayring.
Ergebnisse: Das Erleben von Stillschwierigkeiten ist ein sehr emotionales und komplexes, teils widersprüchlich empfundenes Thema. Sie geht einher mit der Erfahrung nicht erfüllter Erwartungen, extremer Schmerzen und dem Aufkommen von teils konträren Gefühlen. Die Still- und Ernährungssituation des Kindes bestimmen den Alltag und werden als zeitaufwändig und unpraktisch erlebt. Beim Erreichen der emotionalen Belastungsgrenze machen sich Mütter Gedanken über das Abstillen. An diesem Punkt empfinden sie eine große Diskrepanz zwischen der eigenen hohen Stillmotivation und der selbst erlebten Stillunfähigkeit. Für die Bewältigung von Stillschwierigkeiten spielen eine hohe Stillmotivation und bestimmte Charaktereigenschaften wie Durchhaltevermögen eine wichtige Rolle. Mütter wenden in der Stillsituation verschiedene Bewältigungsstrategien an, um proaktiv und lösungsorientiert mit dieser umgehen zu können. Schmerzen werden ertragen und negative Gefühle überwunden durch eine innere Distanzierung.
Fazit: Die erhobenen Ergebnisse werden durch bereits vorhandene Studien belegt. Aus den Ergebnissen lassen sich konkrete Handlungsempfehlungen für Stillberatungen ableiten.
In der Schriftenreihe „Voneinander Lehren lernen“ publiziert das LearningCenter der Hochschule Osnabrück anwendungsbezogene Beiträge zur Qualitätsentwicklung in Studium und Lehre. Die Schriftenreihe ist an das Konzept des „Scholarship of Teaching and Learning“ (SoTL) angelehnt. Demnach soll sie insbesondere den Fachlehrenden verschiedener Studiengänge als Plattform dienen, um ihre eigenen Erfahrungen, Ideen und Konzepte zur Lehr- und Studiengangentwicklung systematisch zu reflektieren und entsprechende Erkenntnisse für andere nutzbar zu machen. Ziel ist es, den Diskurs über hochschuldidaktische Themen in die Fächer zu tragen und so die Qualität der Lehr-Lernprozesse in den Studiengängen zu fördern. In diesem vierten Band der Schriftenreihe werden Projekte der Hochschule Osnabrück beschrieben, die im Rahmen des Programms „Innovative Lehr- und Lernkonzepte: Innovation plus“ des Landes Niedersachsen gefördert wurden. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf abgeschlossenen Projekten der ersten beiden Ausschreibungsrunden. Gemeinsam ist den vorgestellten Initiativen, dass sie nicht nur das fachbezogene Lernen unterstützen, sondern auch zur Förderung überfachlicher Kompetenzen im Rahmen curricularer Lehre beitragen. Ergänzt werden die Texte der Fachlehrenden daher durch einen Aufsatz, in dem Mitarbeitende des LearningCenters diesen integrativen Ansatz und alternative Herangehensweisen zur Förderung überfachlicher Kompetenzen diskutieren.
Background
The aim of this qualitative study was to identify a practice level model that could explain a sustained change in nutritional behavior.
Methods
The study used three data inputs from four interviewees, one merged input from a married couple, as narrative interviews. The interviews were analyzed using grounded theory.
Results
Coexistence of a certain suffering and a triggering episode lead to the decision to change nutritional life-style by all interviewed. Maintenance of the self-determined newly learned nutritional behavior was supported by subject-related intrinsic motivation, the ability to reflect, and a low expectation of success from the behavioral change. Environment-related factors were identified as support from life-partner and peers. Subjects reported that the sustained nutritional behavior change impacted their holistic health through subject-perceived improved life quality, increase in the number of social contacts, and a change in personal attitudes and perception. The analysis remains limited, and at best hypothesis generating, in that only three data inputs from four interviewees were used.
Conclusion
In this hypothesis-generating narrative interview study of four study subjects, volition, personal decision making, and long-term motivation (though not external determination) seemed to sustain a change in newly learned nutritional behavior.
Background
We explore the association between bone T-scores, used in osteoporosis diagnosis, and functional status since we hypothesized that bone health can impact elderly functional status and indirectly independence.
Methods
In a cross-sectional study (2005–2006) on community dwelling elderly (> = 75 years) from Herne, Germany we measured bone T-scores with Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry, and functional status indexed by five geriatric tests: activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, test of dementia, geriatric depression score and the timed-up-and-go test, and two pooled indexes: raw and standardized. Generalized linear regression was used to determine the relationship between T-scores and functional status.
Results
From 3243 addresses, only 632 (19%) completed a clinical visit, of which only 440 (male∶female, 243∶197) could be included in analysis. T-scores (−0.99, 95% confidence interval [CI], −1.1–0.9) predicted activities of daily living (95.3 CI, 94.5–96.2), instrumental activities of daily living (7.3 CI, 94.5–96.2), and timed-up-and-go test (10.7 CI, 10.0–11.3) (P< = 0.05). Pooled data showed that a unit improvement in T-score improved standardized pooled functional status (15 CI, 14.7–15.3) by 0.41 and the raw (99.4 CI, 97.8–101.0) by 2.27 units. These results were limited due to pooling of different scoring directions, selection bias, and a need to follow-up with evidence testing.
Conclusions
T-scores associated with lower functional status in community-dwelling elderly. Regular screening of osteoporosis as a preventive strategy might help maintain life quality with aging.
Longitudinal analysis investigates period (P), often as years. Additional scales of time are age (A) and birth cohort (C) Aim of our study was to use ecological APC analysis for women breast cancer incidence and mortality in Germany. Nation-wide new cases and deaths were obtained from Robert Koch Institute and female population from federal statistics, 1999–2008. Data was stratified into ten 5-years age-groups starting 20–24 years, ten birth cohorts starting 1939–43, and two calendar periods 1999–2003 and 2004–2008. Annual incidence and mortality were calculated: cases to 100,000 women per year. Data was analyzed using glm and apc packages of R. Breast cancer incidence and mortality increased with age. Secular rise in breast cancer incidence and decline in mortality was observed for period1999-2008. Breast cancer incidence and mortality declined with cohorts; cohorts 1950s showed highest incidence and mortality. Age-cohort best explained incidence and mortality followed by age-period-cohort with overall declining trends. Declining age-cohort mortality could be probable. Declining age-cohort incidence would require future biological explanations or rendered statistical artefact. Cohorts 1949–1958 could be unique in having highest incidence and mortality in recent time or future period associations could emerge relatively stronger to cohort to provide additional explanation of temporal change over cohorts.
Background
The population-based mammography screening program (MSP) was implemented by the end of 2005 in Germany, and all women between 50 and 69 years are actively invited to a free biennial screening examination. However, despite the expected benefits, the overall participation rates range only between 50 and 55 %. There is also increasing evidence that belonging to a vulnerable population, such as ethnic minorities or low income groups, is associated with a decreased likelihood of participating in screening programs. This study aimed to analyze in more detail the intra-urban variation of MSP uptake at the neighborhood level (i.e. statistical districts) for the city of Dortmund in northwest Germany and to identify demographic and socioeconomic risk factors that contribute to non-response to screening invitations.
Methods
The numbers of participants by statistical district were aggregated over the three periods 2007/2008, 2009/2010, and 2011/2012. Participation rates were calculated as numbers of participants per female resident population averaged over each 2-year period. Bayesian hierarchical spatial models extended with a temporal and spatio-temporal interaction effect were used to analyze the participation rates applying integrated nested Laplace approximations (INLA). The model included explanatory covariates taken from the atlas of social structure of Dortmund.
Results
Generally, participation rates rose for all districts over the time periods. However, participation was persistently lowest in the inner city of Dortmund. Multivariable regression analysis showed that migrant status and long-term unemployment were associated with significant increases of non-attendance in the MSP.
Conclusion
Low income groups and immigrant populations are clustered in the inner city of Dortmund and the observed spatial pattern of persistently low participation in the city center is likely linked to the underlying socioeconomic gradient. This corresponds with the findings of the ecological regression analysis manifesting socioeconomically deprived neighborhoods as risk factors for low attendance in the MSP. Spatio-temporal surveillance of participation in cancer screening programs may be used to identify spatial inequalities in screening uptake and plan spatially focused interventions.
Objectives: Evaluation of multislice-CT (MSCT) during diagnosis and therapeutic decision-making in patients with suspected non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI).
Methods: Retrospective, institutional review board-approved study of 30 patients (20 men, 10 women, mean age 64.6±14.2 years, range 24-87 years) undergoing biphasic abdominal MSCT followed by digital subtraction angiography (DSA) due to suspected NOMI. MSCT and DSA were qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated independently by two radiologists with respect to the possible diagnosis of NOMI. MSCT analysis included quantitative measurements, qualitative evaluation of contrast enhancement and assessment of secondary findings (bowel wall thickening, hypo-enhancement, intestinal pneumatosis). MSCT diagnosis and secondary findings were compared against DSA diagnosis.
Results: NOMI was diagnosed in a total of n = 28 patients. No differences were found when comparing the R1-rated MSCT diagnosis (p = 0.09) to the "gold standard", while MSCT diagnosis was slightly inferior with R2 (p = 0.02). With R1, vessel-associated parameters revealed the best correlation, i.e. qualitative vessel width (r = -0.39;p = 0.03) and vessel contrast (r = 0.45;p = 0.01). Moderate correlations were found for quantitative vessel diameters in the middle segments (r = -0.48,p = 0.01), increasing to almost high correlations in the distal (r = -0.66;p<0.00001) superior mesenteric artery (SMA) segments. No significant correlation was apparent from secondary findings.

Adventitious root (AR) formation is the basis of vegetative propagation in rose, be it via stem cuttings or via stenting. During this process, wounding plays a pivotal role since cell reprogramming takes place at the tissue adjacent to the wound. We investigated the effects of wounding on AR formation on leafy single-node stem cuttings of the rose rootstock R. canina ‘Pfänder’ (codes R02-3 and R02-6) and the cut rose cultivar Rosa ‘Tan09283’ (Registration name ‘Beluga’). Laser wounding treatments were based on the assisted removal of tissue layers located in the bark. The positioning of wounding was studied based on two marking directions: along the cutting base (strip pattern) and around the cutting base (ring pattern). Additionally, the effects of external supply of indole-butyric acid (IBA 1 mg L-1) on rootingwere analyzed. Results showedthat inorder toremovespecific tissue layers, the calculation of the laser energy density (J cm-2) in terms of cutting diameter was necessary. Interestingly, the application of energy densities from 2.5 J cm-2 up to approximately 8.5 J cm-2 were sufficient to expose the tissue layers of epidermis up to regions of phloem. Regarding AR formation for R. canina ‘Pfänder’, characterized by a low rooting response, an increase in the rooting percentage was registered when the laser treatment eliminated the tissue up to phloem proximities. Analysis of the nodal position showed that bud location was a preferential place for AR formation independently of wounding treatment. In case of Rosa ‘Tan09283’, laser treatments did not reduce its high rooting capacity, but an apparent reduction in rooting quality due to an investment in tissue healing was observed when wounding reached deeper layers such as parenchyma and sclerenchyma. Results also showeda strongARformation directly fromwounded regions in case of Rosa ‘Tan09283’ specifically when the woundwas located below the axillary bud. In conclusion, wounding by assisted-elimination of layers by laser can induce positive effects on AR formation of single-node stemcuttings of the rose if energy applied is able to expose phloemproximities,a longitudinalorientation, and relative position to the axillary bud are considered.
Der Ökologische Landbau hat als Ziel die Biodiversität, die vor allem durch die Flora beeinflusst wird, zu stärken. In Verbindung mit dem Ertragsziel der landwirtschaftlichen Produktion ergibt sich dadurch die Frage, mit welchen Maßnahmen sowohl eine höhere Beikrautbiodiversität als auch die Ertragssicherung kombiniert werden können.
Hierzu wurde in der Nähe von Osnabrück ein einjähriger Versuch mit ökologisch angebauter Wintertriticale angelegt. Der Versuch wurde als Split-Plot-Design mit 4 Blöcken und Variationen von Saattermin, Saatstärke und mechanischer Beikrautregulierung an zwei Terminen im Frühjahr, auch mit Hackvarianten in 25 cm Reihenabstand, angelegt und von März 2022 bis zur Ernte im Juli 2022 regelmäßig auf vegetative und später auch generative Triticaleparameter sowie auf das Auftreten verschiedener Beikrautarten und den Beikrautdeckungsgrad geprüft.
Durch den frühen Saattermin am 18.10.2021 konnte verglichen mit dem späten Saattermin am 01.11.2021 aufgrund der längeren Wachstumsphase ein erhöhtes vegetatives Wachstum der Triticale erreicht werden. Ebenso wurde die Zahl der Beikrautindividuen und -arten gefördert, da sich insbesondere Herbstkeimer durch die zeitige Aussaat besser etablieren konnten. Eine erhöhte Konkurrenzwirkung konnte aufgrund von indifferentem Beikrautdeckungsgrad und gleichbleibender Beikrautbiomasse nicht festgestellt werden. Der Kornertrag wurde nicht beeinflusst, aber der Proteingehalt stieg um etwa 0,5 Prozentpunkte an. Entsprechend kann geschlussfolgert werden, dass die Beikrautbiodiversität durch die frühere Aussaat gefördert wurde, während der Strohertrag stieg, der Kornertrag gleichblieb und der Proteingehalt marginal sank.
Die erhöhte Saatstärke führte wie zu erwarten zu einer höheren Bestandesdichte, die auch zu einem höheren Kulturdeckungsgrad führte. Die daraus resultierende höhere Konkurrenzkraft der Triticale führte zu weniger Beikrautbiomasse und weniger Beikrautindividuen sowie -arten. Allerdings konnte in puncto Kornertrag kein Einfluss der Saatstärke festgestellt werden, da die höhere Ährendichte bei höherer Saatstärke durch das Ährengewicht ausgeglichen wurde. Der Proteingehalt stieg sogar durch die reduzierte Saatstärke. Entsprechend kann die reduzierte Aussaatstärke empfohlen werden, da sie positiv für die Beikräuter, indifferent für Stroh- und Kornertrag und positiv für den Proteingehalt eingeschätzt wird. Darüber hinaus können Saatgutkosten eingespart werden.
Den stärksten Einfluss auf Beikräuter und Triticale hatte allerdings die mechanische Beikrautregulierung. Das vegetative und generative Wachstum der einfachen Hackvariante in 25 cm Reihenabstand hat im Vergleich zur Striegelvariante deutliche Vorteile gezeigt. Auch der Proteingehalt und -ertrag konnte erhöht werden. Die intensive Hackvariante mit zusätzlichem Einsatz einer Rotary Hoe verhielt sich intermediär, da sie vermutlich die Kulturpflanze geschädigt hat.
Dagegen wies die Striegelvariante im Vergleich zur intensiven Hackvariante die höchste Zahl an Beikrautarten auf, während allerdings auch Beikrautdeckungsgrad, -biomasse und -individuenzahl maximal waren. Die intensive Hackvariante wies dagegen das ausgeglichenste Beikrautartenverhältnis auf (geringe Dominanz, hohes SDI). Bezüglich der Beikrautparameter verhielt sich die normale Hackvariante intermediär. Bei der normalen Hackvariante konnten entsprechend sämtliche Ertragsparameter maximiert werden, während sich die Beikrautparameter nicht signifikant veränderten. Die Beikrautvielfalt und -abundanz tendierte zu sinken, während die Ausgeglichenheit der Beikrautarten zunahm und entsprechend dominante Arten, wie Acker-Frauenmantel (Aphanes arvensis L.) an Bedeutung verloren haben, was eine Zönose vorbeugt.
Background:
Neck pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal pains and among the fourth leading causes of years of life lost due to disability, following back pain, depression, and arthralgia. (1)
In the course of their lives, about 70% of all people will experience a clinically relevant episode of neck pain, (2) so finding a good therapy to treat it is of high interest. Aerobic exercise is associated with pain reduction in patients with different types of MSK pain. Recent studies have shown a positive impact of aerobic exercises on brain function, memory processing, cognition, and motor function. (3, 4)
Therefore, the influence of aerobic exercise on pain modulation seems to be of particular interest for individuals with chronic MSK pain, since brain imaging studies have shown that these patients have structural and functional changes, as well as abnormal brain features in various areas of the brain. The evidence regarding the effectiveness of aerobic exercise for neck pain seems limited and outdated.
Thus, a systematic review evaluating the effects of aerobic exercise in patients with neck pain is needed. Therefore, this review aims to investigate the effectiveness of aerobic exercise interventions when compared to other conservative and non-conservative interventions (e.g., localized exercises, medication, acupuncture, physical agents, manual therapy) to decrease pain intensity in people with neck pain.
Materials and methods:
Electronic literature searches were conducted in a total of six databases such as Medline, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Scopus. The review considered randomised controlled trials (RCTs) including patients over 18 years having musculoskeletal pain in the neck area. The Neck Pain Task Force's classification of pain severity describes four levels of neck pain, with the first three levels considered in this review. (5)These must be clinically diagnosed by a health care provider according to signs and symptoms or based on standardized criteria specific for each disease. Studies involving subjects with any pre-existing conditions, previous surgery, or pain not clearly related to the musculoskeletal system were excluded. No limits were applied in terms of sex, ethnicity, and living country. Data were extracted using a standardized data extraction form.
Methodological quality was determined using the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool (CCRBT) and the strength of the evidence with Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE). Data were extracted and evaluated by two independent reviewers.
Results:
A total of 21585 records were identified and screened independently for eligibility by two reviewers. A total of six unique studies, reported on ten manuscripts met the specified inclusion criteria. Different types of aerobic exercise were used in the studies. Studies included isolated and combined aerobic exercise using interventions such as cycling on an ergometer or walking outdoors at a moderate intensity. Comparison groups were for example strength training or education. The most common outcome was pain assessed with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) or the Nordic questionnaire.
The included studies had a high risk of bias and the overall quality of the evidence for this systematic review was considered low. There was high heterogeneity in the included studies regarding interventions applied and study results.
When looking at the effect of aerobic exercise versus control group or other intervention groups measured with VAS, it can be observed, that there was a great heterogeneity between studies results (different magnitudes and directions). Although none of the comparisons showed a statistically significant difference between aerobic exercise and control (MD 6.24 mm, 95% CI [-11.21; 23.96]) or active intervention groups (MD -9.52 mm, 95% CI [-18.48; -0.56]) on pain intensity; it seems that aerobic exercise is slightly better than a control group, and equally effective as other active treatments such as strength exercise or education.
In addition, when combined with other therapeutic modalities, aerobic exercise, could potentially help to reduce pain intensity (MD 7.71 mm, 95% CI [1.07; 14.35]). Especially in the long term, the combination of strength and aerobic exercise showed promising results. Statistically significant differences in favour of aerobic exercise for pre vs. three months follow up (MD 11.20 mm, 95% CI [2.85;19.55]) and pre vs. six moths follow up (MD 15.10 mm, 95% CI [6.99; 23.21]) were found.
Conclusions:
Although there is currently limited evidence on the effectiveness of aerobic exercise in individuals with chronic neck pain, aerobic exercise was found to not only reduce pain intensity, but also to improve disability as well as physical and emotional functioning. However, as the evidence is limited, low quality, and heterogeneous, further research is needed in this area to obtain more accurate results.

Who is more eager to use Gamification in Economic Disciplines? Comparison of Students and Educators

Background: In this paper, the focus is on the application of digital and mobile technologies as supporting tools for the implementation of gamification in the field of education of future economists. Objectives: The paper's main objective is to explore whether educators and students are motivated and willing to apply additional technologies as main gamification components in their work and education. Moreover, the paper aims to assess how their more comprehensive application affects the quality of teaching, work flexibility, new learning opportunities, and outcomes. Methods/Approach: The survey method was used to collect answers from educators and students primarily interested in accounting, finance, trade and tourism from higher and secondary education institutions in Croatia, Poland, Serbia and Germany. Afterwards, the responses were compared using statistical methods. Results: Research results confirm that educators and students are willing to use gamification in teaching. Still, they also expressed the need for better administrative support in using particular e-learning tools. Surprisingly, educators are more eager to use gamification in their work than students. Conclusions: The study's general conclusion is that educators and students are both aware of the advantages of using e-learning tools provided through digital and mobile technologies and are eager to implement more gamification in the teaching process. However, continuous education in applying new digital technologies is needed on both sides.
Technological support options for the usage of Brazilian Açaí berries in the European Food Market

The highly perishable fruit açaí grows on palm trees in northern Brazil and is colloquially known as a berry with high nutritional value. The seed of the drupe makes up around 85 percent of the fruits weight and only the pulp around the seed is used for human consumption. The manufacturing step after harvest includes the pulping and the preservation of the fruit. The preservation step is necessary, because the açaí pulp contains a high microbial load. There are several preservation processes including the use of chlorinated or ozonated water, alcoholic fermentation, pasteurization, freezing or dehydration. Those techniques are overall not very gentle and have the potential to leave residues in the final product, which can change its typical sensorial characteristics. Therefore, an experiment was conducted, to see if a relatively new gentle preservation method called PEF can reduce the microbial load in an açaí- smoothie.
For this purpose, a PEF-machine was built and verified based on the paper from HEINZ ET AL. [2003]. The self-built machine works efficiently, when there is a reduction of microorganisms like Escherichia coli in apple juice due to the induced Pulsed Electric Fields. If this is the case, the described experiment with açaí-smoothie can be carried out with the self-built PEF- machine. In this experiment the results of the validation of this PEF-machine were not comparable to those from the paper from HEINZ ET AL. [2003]. So, the self-built PEF-machine in Brazil did not work sufficiently. Hence, the experiment which should show that a reduction of microorganisms, such as Escherichia coli, in açaí-smoothie with PEF is possible, was performed in Germany. It was accrued out at ELEA with using the PEFPilotTM Dual. This experiment confirmed the assumption, that microorganisms can be reduced in açaí-smoothie with PEF. Escherichia coli was reduced by 2 logs, Saccharomyces cerevisiae by 3 logs and Lactobacillus plantarum by 6 logs. And a comparison between PEF and the known preservation methods for açaí showed that it can be a compatible alternative.
Moreover, the topic, how açaí fits into the European Food Market is answered within this paper. When offering açaí food products to the European population, ideas can be originated from the well-working Brazilian market. It can be helpful to mix açaí with known European fruits for a better acceptance by the people. Then açaí can help to meet the Europeans needs of the current time for fresh and healthy food, especially when preserved with PEF. Furthermore, it is important to work towards a sustainable supply chain system from the cultivation until the unloading at the destination in Europe. Sustainability is important for the integration in the European market, not only for environmental protection, but also in terms of social stability and marketing purposes. In addition, access requirements, further food-related regulations, and the seasonality of açaí present a major hurdle.
Building on this thesis, further papers shall be written, not only in the field of the preservation of the açaí pulp with PEF, but also in the direction of combined preservation methods for açaí, the sustainable usage of the açaí seeds, product innovations containing the Brazilian fruit or various market research.
Der Beitrag beschreibt das Veranstaltungskonzept ICMScrum, welches die Ideen des Inverted Classroom mit Elementen aus Scrum kombiniert. Beginnend mit Anforderungen des aktuellen und zukünftigen Arbeitsmarktes werden die zentralen Elemente der Methodik anhand eines praktizierten Beispiels vorgestellt und kritisch diskutiert.
Hintergrund: Instrumentalisten leiden häufig unter spielbedingten (neuro-) muskuloskelettalen Erkrankungen. Diese zeigen sich bei Streichern, wie Violinisten, Bratschisten und Cellisten, am häufigsten in Form von Beschwerden im Oberkörper – insbesondere im Schulter-Nacken-Bereich. Die apparative Bewegungsanalyse hat sich bereits als hilfreich bei der Beurteilung von muskuloskelettalen Erkrankungen und schädlichen Bewegungsmustern erwiesen und wird für die Diagnostik bei funktionellen Störungen empfohlen. Es wurde bereits gezeigt, dass die apparative biomechanische Bewegungsanalyse ein valides und klinisch praktikables Werkzeug für die genaue und objektive Untersuchung von Bewegungen bei Streichern ist, jedoch ist ihr Einsatz in der klinischen Konsultation immer noch sehr unüblich. Aus diesem Grund existiert ein Mangel an gut etablierten Bewegungsanalyse-Protokollen zur Untersuchung funktioneller Störungen bei Streichern unter Einsatz biomechanischer Instrumente in einem klinischen Umfeld wie der Physiotherapie.
Ziel ist es daher, die Entwicklung und Anwendung eines solchen Protokolls vorzustellen für die Beurteilung der funktionellen Spielbewegungen des Oberkörpers bei sowohl hohen als auch tiefen Streichern in einem physiotherapeutischen Umfeld.
Methode: Zunächst wurden auf Basis einer klinischen Fragestellung relevante Symptombereiche und Messparameter bestimmt. Anschließend wurden beteiligte Segmente, Gelenke und Muskeln selektiert. Darauf basierend wurde ein umfassendes (mechanisches) Modell des Oberkörpers sowie die dazugehörigen Koordinatensysteme und Rotationssequenzen definiert. Dies lenkte sowohl die Spezifikation eines speziell angefertigten Marker-Sets sowie fortgeschrittener Ansätze wie zur funktionellen Bestimmung von Gelenkzentren und -achsen, als auch die Auswahl und Platzierung von Oberflächenelektroden. Schließlich wurden Aktivitäten zur Kalibrierung und Untersuchung der Bewegungsfunktion sowie relevante Analyseparameter und deren Darstellungsformen festgelegt.
Die Protokolldurchführung beinhaltet zunächst die Auswahl der zu untersuchenden Segmente, Gelenke und Muskeln ausgehend von einer oder mehreren klinischen (Arbeits-)Hypothesen bzw. von den spezifischen Symptombereichen. Darauf basierend werden die benötigten Marker und Oberflächenelektroden konfiguriert und platziert. Anschließend werden die festgelegten Kalibrierungsmessungen und Bewegungsaufgaben durchgeführt. Schließlich werden die relevanten Ergebnisparameter zur Überprüfung der Hypothesen extrahiert.
Der klinische Einsatz der Methode wird exemplarisch anhand einer Violinistin mit spielbedingten Schmerzen erläutert.
Klinische Implikationen: Die potenzielle Anwendung des vorgestellten Vorgehens ist die intra-individuelle Evaluation von gleichzeitig der Gelenk- als auch der Muskelfunktion bei hohen und tiefen Streichern während der physiotherapeutischen Konsultation. Dies soll sowohl zur Diagnose funktioneller Erkrankungen des Bewegungsapparates in Form einer objektiven, umfassenden und dennoch klinisch praktikablen diagnostischen Untersuchung als auch zum prä-post-interventionellen Vergleich beitragen.
background: Musculoskeletal problems (MP) are widespread in performing artists and are due to the special demands of instrument playing, singing or dancing. Additionally, various other factors might contribute to performance-related MP. To provide a specific physiotherapeutic management for performing artists it is important to gain information about the performing art, the individual demands and contributing factors. The subjective examination (SE) is the basis of the clinical reasoning process and the hypothesis forming for further clinical examination and biomechanical analysis. In the present protocol, the SE consists of a questionnaire-based section and an interview-based section and is part of the evaluation process of the neuromusculoskeletal examination of a performing artist specific reference laboratory.
purpose: To develop a standardized SE protocol divided into a questionnaire-based section (Part 1) via web application and an interview-based SE (Part 2) to address MP of performing artists.
methods: The questionnaires for part 1 were selected based on the expertise of the research group and the psychometric properties of each possible questionnaire. A common physiotherapeutic recording of findings which addresses the relevant questions of the SE of MP was used. To adapt the anamnesis to performing-associated MP questions specific to instrument playing, singing and dancing were selected on the basis of a literature search and the expertise of the research group.
summary of content/results: Part 1 consists of three topics. (1) information about the performing art, professional level and sociodemographic data, (2) information about pain and pain processing, and (3) the anatomical location of the main MP including a body region-specific questionnaire. Part 2 is based on the five aspects of clinical practice described by Maitland and the Musculoskeletal Clinical Translation Framework by Mitchell et al. The performing arts specific part is particularly focused on performing art specific considerations, physical and psychosocial contributing factors and art-specific activities.
significance: This standardized SE protocol should help clinicians evaluating the musculoskeletal health of performing artists in a standardized and specific way.

The evaluation covers 4 steps: a subjective examination (SE) including (1) a questionnaire-based online survey and (2) an interview-based anamnesis. On the basis of the results of the SE, hypotheses are formed for (3) an individual musculoskeletal clinical examination and a (4) biomechanical analysis. Here, the focus is on the clinical examination.
Purpose: to develop a standardized protocol for a clinical examination addressing especially musculoskeletal problems in performing artists.
Methods: A common physiotherapeutic clinical examination should be supplemented with techniques, which are specific to performance-related musculoskeletal problems and/or their risk factors. The development was based on a literature search and the clinical expertise of the physiotherapeutic research group.
Summary of content/Results: The performing arts specific clinical examination includes the common analysis of posture as well as passive/active movement capacities and specific differentiating tests in relation to the signs and symptoms of the individual artist. The examination is supplemented by a functional demonstration focusing on the special demands of playing the respective instrument, while singing or dancing. Common overuse risk factors like hypermobility, special anthropometric data or an examination of the motor control of different body regions are addressed. Optional, the various parts of the examination process could be skipped, if not relevant for the individual artist.
Significance: This clinical examination protocol should help clinicians evaluating the musculoskeletal health of performing artists in a standardized and specific way.
Die deutschen Kommunen stehen aktuell vor schweren Herausforderungen: der durch die Covid-19-Pandemie bedingte wirtschaftliche Abschwung hat zu massiven Einbrüchen in den kommunalen Steuereinnahmen geführt und gleichzeitig hohe außerplanmäßige Ausgaben bewirkt. Weitere zeitaktuelle Herausforderungen für den kommunalen Finanzhaushalt sind die drohende Energiekrise und die hohe Inflation. Daraus resultierend befinden sich die Kommunen in einer angespannten Haushaltslage und sind gezwungen, unpopuläre Sparmaßnahmen zwecks Haushaltsausgleich einzuleiten. Auch der Landkreis Osnabrück unterliegt einem enormen Konsolidierungsdruck. Die Verwaltungsführung und die politischen Gremien haben beschlossen, ein umfassendes Haushaltskonsolidierungskonzept durchführen zu lassen, im Rahmen dessen u. a. Aufgabenkritik ausgeübt werden soll. Hierbei unterliegen insb. freiwillige Aufgaben einer strengen Aufgabenkritik. Zu den freiwilligen Aufgaben gehört auch die Europaarbeit des ED. Das ED ist eine zentrale europäische Anlaufstelle für die Bevölkerung der Region Osnabrück, bei der sich die Bürger über die EU informieren und zu allerlei europabezogenen Anliegen beraten lassen können. Vor dem Hintergrund der geschilderten Situation steht der ED-Leiter nun vor der Herausforderung, die Europaarbeit des ED vor der Politik und Verwaltungsführung zu rechtfertigen. Aus diesem Anlass untersucht die Verfasserin in der vorliegenden Arbeit, welche Bedeutung dem ED des Landkreises Osnabrück aus Bürgersicht zukommt. Hierzu nimmt sie eine Betrachtung des ED aus aufgabenkritischer Perspektive vor. Im Rahmen der Betrachtung zieht sie die ihr zugrundeliegenden Informationen über das ED sowie Ergebnisse einer stichprobenartigen Umfrage heran.
Im Ergebnis stellt sich heraus, dass die ED-Europaarbeit beibehalten und weiterhin durch den Landkreis Osnabrück wahrgenommen werden sollte. Im Hinblick auf den Geschäftsprozess ergibt sich die Notwendigkeit zu einer Reduktion des Aufgabenumfangs und einer Umpriorisierung der Aufgaben. Insofern bestehen Optimierungspotentiale, die im Rahmen einer GPO näher analysiert werden müssten.
Das Thema Building Information Modeling (BIM) hat sich in den letzten Jahren zu einem immer bedeutenderen Thema für die Infrastrukturplanung in Deutschland entwickelt. Die BIM-Methode wird hier bereits seit 2015 anhand von Pilotprojekten umgesetzt und erprobt. Die in enger Verbindung stehende Landschafts- und Umweltplanung findet bisher jedoch weiterhin in 2D statt und wird nicht in die BIM-basierte Arbeitsweise integriert. Potenzielle Vorteile einer Integration der Landschafts- und Umweltplanung können daher aktuell nicht genutzt werden.
Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die exemplarische Integration der Landschafts- und Umwelt-planung in ein mit BIM umgesetztes Straßenbauprojekt. Untersuchungsgegenstand ist das BIM-Pilotprojekt Verfügbarkeitsmodell A10/A24. Entwickelt wurde ein Fachmodell Land-schaft_Freianlage. Dieses dient der Einbindung der festgelegten und vordefinierten Um-weltbelange und landschaftspflegerischen Maßnahmen in die vorhandene Struktur des Ko-ordinationsmodells A10/A24.
Die Bearbeitung richtet sich insbesondere auf die Umsetzung der landschaftspflegerischen Begleitplanung (LBP) in die landschaftspflegerische Ausführungsplanung (LAP) sowie das Betreiben. Aufbauend auf allgemeine BIM-Ziele werden 3 spezifische Anwendungsfälle for-muliert. Hieraus lassen sich 3 Teil-Fachmodelle und die jeweils erforderlichen BIM-Klassen und zugeordnete Eigenschaften ableiten. Die erarbeiteten Datenstrukturen werden durch die Fachgruppe BIM in der Landschaftsarchitektur als Beitrag zum Katalog 'BIM-Klassen der Verkehrswege' (buildingSMART 2022) weiterentwickelt und können zur nationalen BIM-(Vor-)Standardisierung beitragen.
Die praktische Umsetzung erfolgt mit Hilfe der CAD-BIM-Software Autodesk Civil 3D und der BIM-Management-Software DESITE md pro. Die Teilmodelle werden in das IFC-Format exportiert. In der BIM-Management-Software erfolgt die weitere Anreicherung mit Informa-tionen, die Integration in das gewerkeübergreifende Koordinationsmodell des Verfügbar-keitsmodells A10/A24 sowie die weitere Auswertung.
Besonders eindrucksvoll zeigt eine 4D-Bauablaufvisualisierung die Potenziale der Integra-tion der Landschafts- und Umweltplanung. Die Informationen zu den zu beachtenden Maß-nahmen der Landschafts- und Umweltplanung stehen für alle Baubeteiligten während des gesamten Prozesses benutzerfreundlich zur Verfügung. Dies kann zur Vermeidung von Umweltschäden beitragen und wird als großer Gewinn insbesondere für die Umweltbaube-gleitung angesehen, aber auch für die lange Phase des Betreibens, in der Informationen zu umzusetzenden Umweltmaßnahmen weiterhin zur Verfügung stehen.
The expiry of national subsidies for biogas in Germany means that new business models are needed. Furthermore, hydrogen is expected to make a significant contribution to the energy transition in the future. Therefore, potentials for the production of hydrogen from biogas are identified in this study. A joint upgrading infrastructure is developed that models the collaborative upgrading of biogas to hydrogen for existing biogas plants with subsequent gas grid injection. Furthermore, regions are identified that are particularly suitable as pioneer regions in Germany due to a high potential for green hydrogen production and comparatively low costs for hydrogen production. The modeling shows that collaborative upgrading achieves significant cost savings compared to single-farm upgrading. Furthermore, the potential for hydrogen production from biogas and the costs of upgrading differ significantly within the administrative districts in Germany.
The increasing diversity of cultural backgrounds offers potential for a more elaborated information processing, yet has been shown to be challenging for individuals, due to intergroup hostility, prejudices, and difficulties of intercultural communication. Current research thus focusses on the interaction of employees with different cultural heritages, as well as on their intergroup attitudes and competences. Thereby, leaders have been shown to shape the way diversity is considered in their teams in a top-down process. However, their perception of diversity as well as related challenges and chances are poorly investigated. The current paper thus aims to contribute to the understanding of leader’s perspective on and role in diversity-management by building on a comparative qualitative study with sixteen employees and twenty-two leaders. Research questions are how employees and leaders perceive cultural diversity from their specific point of view, which experiences are likely to contribute to their opinion on and perception of diversity and in how far do employees and leaders differ in these aspects. The results show that employees are aware of the topic of diversity in general but have poor competences in dealing with diversity in their daily working life. This seems to be associated with lack of experience with intercultural interaction and a lack of support from the respective organizations/leaders. Leaders are rarely aware of this lack of support. The results indicate that leaders’ experiences with cultural and age diversity, their identification with the company and previous diversity measures in the context of the companies’ policy towards diversity seem to be relevant for the formation of leaders’ attitudes. As a consequence, most participants focus on the question whether they do or do not want diversity within their teams and companies, while they actually fail to perceive the diversity that is already there.
The Corona pandemic confronted societies with several unexpected constraints that had the effect of making certain goods much scarcer than before. Withdrawal from Russian oil and gas supplies has a similar effect. Carbon abatement can also be seen as a deliberate choice to make certain goods scarc-er than they actually are. These parallels suggests that it may be worthwhile to take a close look at societies’ responses to all three challenges. This paper makes an attempt to synthetize empirical and theoretical insights regarding these scarcity shocks from a well-being perspective, i.e. replacing the prevalent welfare economic focus on production and consumption with a focus on sustainable well-being.
Taking the case of Germany, it will be argued that the observed responses to all three challenges reflect a focus on maintaining incomes and production and that therefore these responses risk being detrimental to sustainable wellbeing and even to economic stability. This is particularly relevant if carbon abatement requires not only transient material sacrifices but lasting and significant reduc-tions of consumption.
It will be argued that the impact of these new scarcities will be much less problematic in a society that acknowledges the priority of sustainable wellbeing over production and consumption measures. Such a society would still need to incur material sacrifices, but these need not translate into a loss of wellbeing if economic conditions and social norms adapt. This will also be more sustainable not only in terms of ecological impact, but also in terms of debt, inflation and inequality.
The contribution follows the hypothesis that the concept of transformative resilience can be a driver in transdisciplinary processes bringing together landscape planning and landscape design. Combining processes of generating, structuring and spatializing knowledge on landscape functions and designing visions for sustainable landscapes on different scales benefits from the creative use of mappings.
Taking the transdisciplinary research study “Green fingers for a climate resilient city”, funded by the German Ministry of education and research (BMBF), as an example, this paper follows the hypothesis that processes of landscape planning and designing multifunctional green spaces and processes of co-creation need to be combined to stimulate climate resilient city transformation. The findings are that efforts to combine these processes benefit from making complex climate-resilient city planning accessible for people of different professional backgrounds. The paper showcases how storytelling (Schmidt 2019), mapping (Langner 2009) and guided walks (Schultz 2019) are means to mutually engage with, perceive and understand multifunctional green spaces, inspire ownership, and build capacity for the city’s climate-resilient transformation.
When the ECLAS Conference took place in 1972 western societies were undergoing profound change: They transformed from industrial to postindustrial societies – the so-called service societies. 50 years later, the knowledge society is emerging: Knowledge is considered the key resource of this era. Digitalization and widespread dissemination of ICT allow information to be obtained anywhere anytime. This has severe implications for individual lifestyles and everyday practices. Different aspects of living, learning and working are no longer bound to physical limitations but can be enhanced by or even transferred to the virtual space. So being on the move today means travelling in hybrid spaces. We call this the space and practice “en route”.
At the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück we explore the following questions:
What does “en route” mean and look like in landscapes of higher education?
How is it perceived individually?
(How) can landscape architecture shape it?
Our transdisciplinary research project EN ROUTE aims to meet current challenges at universities (e.g. digitalisation, sustainable development) with a comprehensive understanding of space and practices “en route”. In a transdisciplinary process, researchers from various disciplines – landscape architecture, geography, urban planning, business administrations and marketing, energy technology and computer science – develop concepts and strategies for sustainable and digital mobility in the higher education sector. New “EN ROUTE” types provide insights into the individual production and utilization of spaces “en route”.
The campuses of the University of Applied Science Osnabrück as well as the virtual and physical space network of its members serve as research example. Initial findings will be presented at the conference. While the ECLAS conference in 1972 focused on physical scales, landscape architecture has to reflect them critically and ask: What could be an innovative understanding of spaces “en route”?
Emotionale Bewertungen stellen ein zentrales Element der Nutzungserfahrung dar. Aus diesem Grund untersucht die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit, ob eine hohe Nutzungshäufigkeit von Mobiltelefon oder Sprachsteuerung einen Einfluss auf die emotionalen Aspekte des Benutzererlebens hat. Zu diesem Zweck wurde eine Online-Befragung (N= 836) durchgeführt und mittels Korrelationen, hierarchischen Regressionsanalysen, multivariaten und univariaten Varianzanalysen sowie kanonischen Diskriminanzfunktionen ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse offenbarten, dass sich Nutzungshäufigkeiten unterschiedlich auf positive und negative Emotionen auswirken. Personen, die ihr Mobiltelefon häufig verwendeten, erfuhren mehr positive Emotionen gegenüber dem Gerät. Negative Emotionen gegenüber dem Mobiltelefon konnten hingegen nicht durch eine häufige Nutzung reduziert werden. Dies konnte unabhängig von dem Ausmaß, in welchem das Mobiltelefon zur zwischenmenschlichen Kommunikation verwendet wurde, beobachtet werden und wurde nicht durch die Nutzungshäufigkeit der Sprachsteuerung moderiert. Dennoch zeigte sich, dass die Nutzungshäufigkeit der Sprachsteuerung sowohl die positiven als auch eingeschränkt die negativen Emotionen gegenüber dem Mobiltelefon beeinflusst, was vermutlich auf eine größere Gesamtnutzung des Mobiltelefons zurückzuführen ist. Insgesamt bestätigt die Studie die Übertragung von Herzbergs Zwei-Faktoren-Theorie auf das Nutzungserleben nur teilweise. Positive Emotionen scheinen einen stärkeren Bezug zum Benutzungserlebnis aufzuweisen, während negative Emotionen wahrscheinlich durch schlechte Gebrauchstauglichkeit hervorgerufen werden. Als Folge dessen wirken sich Nutzungshäufigkeiten vorwiegend auf positive Emotionen aus, doch die gemeinsame Betrachtung von positiven und negativen Emotionen kann einen Unterschied in Bezug auf die Ausprägung negativer Emotionen gegenüber dem Mobiltelefon machen, wie sich bei der Nutzungshäufigkeit der Sprachsteuerung herausstellte.
This qualitative study focuses on assessing the “future readiness” capacity of three Peruvian Higher Education Institutions under the HEInnovate framework. The main question guiding this research is: To what extent can Peruvian universities be considered entrepreneurial and ready
for tackling the Challenges of the Future? The Challenges of the Future are understood as the challenges generated by concepts such as The Future of Work, The Global Skills Gap, Employability and unexpected and destabilizing risks of the environment, such as COVID-19.
Universities were studied based on 4 research sub-questions: 1) How do Peruvian HEIs rate in Entrepreneurial Capacity according to the HEInnovate framework? 2) What are the factors supporting or preventing Peruvian HEIs to accomplish their entrepreneurial potential? 3) What efforts are Peruvian HEIs making for developing 21st century skills, accomplishing Digital Transformation, and enhancing their students Employability? and 4) What measures could Peruvian HEIs take in order to maximize their entrepreneurial and future-proof potential? The research methodology used was mixed, applying first a quantitative assessment, and then
complementing the results with in-depth interviews. After presenting the conclusions, recommendations for policy action and for university management are given.
Die vorliegende Masterarbeit befasst sich mit dem Thema der Darstellung von Vegetation im Kontext des Building Information Modeling (BIM) und hierbei insbesondere mit der Entwicklung eines Datenmodells für ausgewählte Baumarten.
Die Anwendung der BIM-Methode wird in der Landschaftsarchitektur zunehmend gefordert. Zurzeit sind die Integration und die Arbeit mit der BIM-Methode noch mit großen Herausforderungen verbunden. Für die Landschaftsarchitektur fehlen definierte Objekte im internationalen, herstellerneutralen Austauschformat Industry Foundation Classes (IFC). Es fehlen neben den Objekten des Freiraums die Workflows zur Modellierung der Objekte, die beschreibenden Informationen und die Zuordnung zu den Detaillierungsgraden.
Das Ziel der vorliegenden Masterarbeit besteht darin, eine Methode zum Generieren von parametrischen Baummodellen zu entwickeln. Es werden individuelle Baummodelle in der CAD/BIM-Software Autodesk Revit modelliert. Die Baummodelle sollen den Lebenszyklus einer Pflanze abbilden. Das in dieser Arbeit erstellte Baummodell ermöglicht die Abbildung einer Vielzahl von Kronen- und Wurzelformen. Die generierten Baummodelle beinhalten Wachstumsfunktionen mit spezifischen Parametern für die Gesamthöhe, die lichte Stammhöhe, den größten Kronendurchmesser, die Höhe des größten Kronendurchmessers sowie Länge und Tiefe der Wurzel. Zusätzlich zur Geometrie des Modells werden relevante Informationen als konsistenter Parametersatz definiert. Die Informationen können den BIM-Anwendungsfällen zugeordnet werden. Die Parametersätze für das Erscheinungsbild der Modelle und die Informationen zu den Eigenschaften werden über Dynamo gesteuert. Das ermöglicht den direkten Austausch der Modelle und der zugehörigen Informationen.

Greenwashing, defined by the Oxford Dictionary as “disinformation disseminated by an organization so as to present an environmentally responsible public image” can cause multifarious problems for companies. The phenomenon of greenwashing has, however, not attracted much attention in the event marketing literature to date. The purpose of this paper is twofold. It first describes and analyses the specific characteristics and features of greenwashing in event marketing. It then seeks to identify the current fundamental approaches of how to avoid greenwashing in event marketing and to assess their potential. A two-step literature analysis with complementary search approaches served as a methodical framework. First, journals related to event marketing were screened for the keywords “greenwashing” and “greenwash”. Next, the general literature was consulted for the same keywords. The results clearly demonstrate that the subject of greenwashing has been widely neglected in the event literature. There appears to be no overall concept or approach that allows event actors to avoid greenwashing, albeit various individual initiatives exist. However, it also became clear that initiatives against greenwashing in event marketing can be developed and implemented in the short and long term, for example by integrating different stakeholders. Additional political and juridical efforts based on specific guidelines are also necessary to prevent greenwashing in the future. The study is the first one to provide a systematic approach to the topic of greenwashing in the context of event marketing, including relevant approaches for its avoidance. It can thus help practitioners to better detect and avoid greenwashing in the event industry and to guide similar research in the future.

- Welche Empfehlungen lassen sich aus diesen Szenarien für Unternehmen, Politik und Verwaltung ableiten?
In diesem Weißbuch stellen wir Methoden und Maßnahmen vor, die Unternehmen dabei unterstützen, ihre Energieversorgung auf erneuerbare Energien umzustellen, sich von den Preisschwankungen an den fossilen Weltmärkten unabhängiger zu machen und Entscheidungen für eine Klimastrategie für die nächsten Jahrzehnte zu treffen. Es werden drei mögliche Energiewelten der Zukunft skizziert. Informationen zum Thema Eigenstromerzeugung und zu Effizienzmaßnahmen werden anschaulich dargestellt sowie Links zu Fördermöglichkeiten genannt. Wir zeigen drei verschiedene Szenarien für die Energieversorgung von Unternehmen in der Zukunft auf. Sie geben Unternehmen eine Entscheidungshilfe für die eigene Klimastrategie. Die drei Szenarien haben Unterschiede, aber auch Gemeinsamkeiten.
Die EU hat im „Green Deal“ Maßnahmen festgelegt, damit Europa im Jahr 2050 klimaneutral ist. Deutschland hat seine Klimaziele zuletzt noch einmal verschärft und sich als Ziel die Klimaneutralität bis 2045 gesetzt. Um diese Ziele zu erreichen, stehen Industrie und Gewerbe vor der Herausforderung, ihre Energieversorgung auf erneuerbare Energien umzustellen und in Zukunft fossile Brenn- und Kraftstoffe zu ersetzen. Dies gilt für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (KMU) ebenso wie für die Großindustrie. Es stellt sich also die Frage, wie Unternehmen sich mit Strom, Wärme, Dampf, Kälte und weiteren Energieformen versorgen. Welches ist dabei aus heutiger Sicht die günstigste Technologie? Zentrale Rollen hierbei spielen Energieeffizienzmaßnahmen und die Substitution fossiler durch regenerative Energieträger. Lösungen müssen sowohl technisch als auch ökonomisch realisiert werden können. Im Vorteil ist, wer heute schon eine unternehmensinterne Klimaschutzstrategie verfolgt und die ersten Schritte in Richtung Klimaneutralität unternimmt.
Access to digital technologies depends on the availability of technical infrastructure, but this access is unequally distributed among social groups and newly summarized under the term digital divide. The aim is to analyze the perception of a tracing app to contain Covid-19 in Germany. The results showed that participants with the highest level of formal education rate the app as beneficial and were the most likely to use the app.
There are a number of well-established concepts explaining decision-making. The sociology of wise practice within public administration suggests that thinking preferences like the use of intuition form a cornerstone of public administrators’ virtuous practice. This contribution uses conceptual and theoretical resources from the behavioral sciences and public administration to account for individual level differences of employees with regard to thinking preferences in the public sector. Institutional frameworks and social structures may enable or impede the habituation of virtue. The contribution empirically investigates this proposition with respondents from North America and the European Union. The analysis investigates the behavioral dimension preference for intuition/preference for deliberation. An analysis of data from 333 employees from organizations in North America and 1644 employees from organizations in the EU reveal prevalent differences in the preference for thinking styles. The public and private sector differ significantly in terms of the preference for rational as well as for intuitive thinking. What is exciting is that private employees rank higher than public employees on both scales, whereas the difference in rational thinking shows a small effect and the effect size in regard of intuitive thinking is negligible. We explore possible explanations for such differences and similarities.
The PosiThera project focuses on the management of chronic wounds, which is multi-professional and multi-disciplinary. For this context, a software prototype was developed in the project, which is intended to support medical and nursing staff with the assistance of artificial intelligence. In accordance with the user-centred design, national workshops were held at the beginning of the project with the involvement of domain experts in wound care in order to identify requirements and use cases of IT systems in wound care, with a focus on AI. In this study, the focus was on involving nursing and nursing science staff in testing the software prototype to gain insights into its functionality and usability. The overarching goal of the iterative testing and adaptation process is to further develop the prototype in a way that is close to care.
Building on Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation Theory, Bass models describe the diffusion processes distinguishing between innovation (p) and imitation (q). This study aimed at modelling the uptake of RIS, PACS and EHR systems in Germany and Finland. The Bass models revealed a quick and almost identical uptake process across all three systems for Finland. In contrast, the Bass models mirrored a slower uptake in Germany. Consequently, the Finnish “imitation” coefficients were larger than the German ones. While in Germany almost free market forces were driving the adoption through imitation but without tail wind from policy, the adoption process in Finland was centrally governed. This suggests that the diffusion process in Finland reflected a well-managed roll-out of the systems rather than imitation behaviour. Thus, in order for Bass model coefficients to be understood properly, additional contextual information is required.
Rationale:
Biomechanical analyses are capable of capturing and evaluating human motions. In addition to the major biomechanical fields of kinetics and kinematics, electromyography (EMG) provides a reliable way to analyse neuromuscular activities, e.g. inter- and intramuscular coordination or fatigue behavior. Based on these parameters it is possible to conclude to clinically relevant parameters such as motor control, muscular coordination or compensation strategies with different loads. In addition to this, EMG can be used in treatment itself, e.g. biofeedback-training with an EMG is an effective and evidenced based tool to improve neuromuscular control.
Purpose:
To show the advantages of implementing EMG in performing artists´ health and to demonstrate additional therapy and diagnostic options.

Content of Presentation:
This workshop briefly introduces the theoretical principles of EMG and the clinical applications in the context of performing artists´ health. It explains why EMG provides an additional value in the clinical reasoning process and supports the therapist, but decision making in the clinical reasoning process should never be based on EMG solely.
In the further course of the workshop the use of EMG in diagnostics and therapy (biofeedback) with performing artists is practically demonstrated and discussed with the participants.

Clinical Significance:
EMG based functional neuromuscular diagnostics and biofeedback-training provides both the therapist as well as the performing artist with additional value in their clinical work.
Introduction: Hamstring injuries are among the most common injuries in soccer players. Especially the danger of hamstring injuries increases in the final third of each half, with the biceps femoris muscle being highly susceptible, but currently there is no supporting evidence in soccer players. It is important to investigate to provide a basis for further clinical investigations in order to reduce the risk of hamstring injuries.
Objective: To investigate a soccer-specific muscle fatigue protocol has an effect on the activation patterns of the biceps and semitendinosus muscles and correlates with the subjectively perceived exertion of the soccer players.
Methods: 19 healthy soccer players aged 19 - 35 years were included and underwent a standardized procedure that included: (1) performance of the nordic hamstring curls (NHC) and a 10m sprint (pre-test), (2) a soccer-specific muscle fatigue loading protocol for 30 minutes with subsequent rating of perceived exertion (RPE), (3) re-assessed like pre-assessment (post- test). Electromyography (EMG) data were recorded the biceps and
semitendinosus muscles of both legs. Two parameters were analyzed: the peak amplitude during the NHC and the mean amplitude during the 10m sprint.
Results: The RPE score (9.5, p<0.001) and 10m sprint shows significant differences between pre- and post- test for the biceps (standing leg: -82.45, kicking leg: -81.77; p<0.01) and semitendinosus muscle (standing leg: -60.08, p=0.001); kicking leg: -65.30, p=0.03). Significant correlation exists between RPE score and biceps muscles at posttest (standing leg: r=-0.54, kicking leg: r=-0.51; p<0.05).
Conclusion: Muscle fatigue leads to significant changes in the activation behavior of the hamstring muscles. In particular, the biceps muscle shows a correlation with perceived exertion, the higher the exertion, the lower the muscle activity. This may help explain the higher prevalence of the biceps muscle in hamstring injuries and offers a basis for further clinical investigations
This paper provides a discourse based upon the key development of nursing in response to the emerging 4Ds of health technology re-design. Building informatics capability among health professionals is a workforce issue necessitated through the increasing prevalence of information technology and digitization of healthcare affecting the entire health workforce, specifically front-line nurses. The key concepts will be explored of Digitization, Distribution, Disruption and Diversity, a framework recognising the tsunami of technology such as Big Data analytics, comprehensive decision support systems for nursing, nanobots, robotics, and pharmacogenomics and the impact these have upon the nursing workforce.
Rationale
Playing the trombone can lead to playing-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMD). Previous research suggests that professional trombonists predominantly struggle with PRMD on the left body side. An increasing volume leads to an increasing contact pressure on the mouthpiece of the trombone, but it is still unclear how the muscle activity relates to this and whether it differs in musicians with PRMD from those without PRMD.
Purpose
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the activity of different muscles of the left body side, the contact pressure on the mouthpiece and the volume level in healthy trombonists.
Methods
Six male healthy tenor trombonists were included in this study and run through a standardized protocol which consisted of playing a b-flat major scale with three different volume levels (pianissimo, mezzoforte, fortissimo). Analyzed parameters were (1) the activity of several muscles of the left body side (measured with surface electromyography), (2) the contact pressure on the mouthpiece (measured with a force sensor) and (3) the different volume levels.
Results
Analysis of variance reveals significant differences of the muscle activity for the three volume levels. Depending on the volume level and the selected muscle, results show very weak to moderate correlations between contact pressure on the mouthpiece and muscle activity (Spearman´s rho between .11 and .58). The strongest correlation across all muscles occurs during fortissimo playing.
Conclusions
These results show a relationship in healthy trombonists between volume level, contact pressure on the mouthpiece and muscle activity when playing a b-flat major scale. Future research should include trombonists with PRMD to enable comparison between PRMD and non-PRMD musicians.

The diabetic foot ulcer, which 2% – 6% of diabetes patients experience, is a severe health threat. It is closely linked to the risk of lower extremity amputation (LEA). When a DFU is present, the chief imperative is to initiate tertiary preventive actions to avoid amputation. In this light, clinical decision support systems (CDSS) can guide clinicians to identify DFU patients early. In this study, the PEDIS classification and a Bayesian logistic regression model are utilised to develop and evaluate a decision method for patient stratification. Therefore, we conducted a Bayesian cutpoint analysis. The CDSS revealed an optimal cutpoint for the amputation risk of 0.28. Sensitivity and specificity were 0.83 and 0.66. These results show that although the specificity is low, the decision method includes most actual patients at risk, which is a desirable feature in monitoring patients at risk for major amputation. This study shows that the PEDIS classification promises to provide a valid basis for a DFU risk stratification in CDSS.
